Engineering Flexible Metal‐Phenolic Networks with Guest Responsiveness via Intermolecular Interactions

نویسندگان

چکیده

Flexible metal-organic materials are of growing interest owing to their ability undergo reversible structural transformations under external stimuli. Here, we report flexible metal-phenolic networks (MPNs) featuring stimuli-responsive behavior diverse solute guests. The competitive coordination metal ions phenolic ligands multiple sites and guests (e.g., glucose) primarily determines the responsive MPNs, as revealed experimentally computationally. Glucose molecules can be embedded into dynamic MPNs upon mixing, leading reconfiguration thus changes in physicochemical properties for targeting applications. This study expands library understanding intermolecular interactions between guests, which is essential rational design various

Intermolecular Interactions via Perturbation Theory: From Diatoms to Biomolecules

This article is devoted to the most recent, i.e. taking place within the last few years, theoretical developments in the field of intermolecular interactions. The most important advancement during this time period was the creation of a new version of symmetry-adapted perturbation theory (SAPT) which is based on the density-functional theory (DFT) description of monomers. This method, which will...

Flexible magnetic coordination networks sensitive to guest molecules

Structurally flexible coordination networks that react to different external stimuli with structure deformation, and consequently changes in magnetic properties, are potential candidates for molecular switches and sensors. The design of guest-sensitive molecular magnetic materials based on the specific building blocks: [Ni(cyclam)] (cyclam = 1,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradecane) cation and polycya...

Copper Acetylacetonate Intermolecular Interactions with Conjugated Polymers

Hybrid propellants are of great interest in space propulsion for combining desirable characteristics of solid and liquid propulsion technologies: simplicity and operational readiness (from solid) with variable thrust and high performance (from liquid), minimizing the disadvantages associated with each one. However, a hybrid propulsion was always limited to the low rate of burning of its solid f...

Reversible Janus particle assembly via responsive host-guest interactions.

Reversible assembly of Janus particles was manipulated by host-guest interaction of β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) and azobenzene. One side of every Janus particle was modified with β-CD. Superstructures of Janus particles were formed by adding azobenzene-containing polymers to the dispersion of Janus particles. The superstructures were reversibly disassembled by adding α-CD or light irradiation.
